Robert George Moody, 75, of Pauline, South Carolina, retired Marine of 23 years, peacefully departed for his heavenly duty station Saturday, May 2nd, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born in Pittsfield, Maine on September 7, 1950 to the late George and Leola Moody. Bob developed a strong work ethic early in his life, delivering daily newspapers, sometimes in knee deep snow, and working at his father’s business, Pittsfield Coal and Oil Company. He graduated from Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield, Maine, then signed up to become a Marine.
His military career spanned many countries, and his dedication to the Corps was unwavering. Bob was dedicated to his physical fitness and he loved to run. While in Gitmo, Cuba he ran 7 miles a day on his lunch hour in the hot sun. Award after award for excellent service earned him his final rank as a Chief Warrant Officer 4, and he retired ready for a busy civilian life which took him in many directions as an Amway distributor and then HR Manager in Hendersonville, NC.
In addition to his parents and many relatives, Bob was predeceased by his wife Connie, whom he lovingly cared for many years following a terrible car accident. Together they had one son, Christopher Moody.
In 2016 he found love again with Joetta Moody and together they shared a happy, busy life. Traveling, visiting family and friends, he was always smiling and ready to tell a Marine story.
Bob is also survived by his two children, Christopher Moody and Julie Steele (Bill), and a stepdaughter, Amy Holliday; his brother, David Moody (Laure'); his sister, Sandra Perkins (Jeff); seven grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews that adored him. Bob had an infectious smile and such a kind loving heart, he set a standard of a life of service to his God, his family, and his country and was exemplary to all who knew him.
In his memory, please love your country, support our military, and hug those you love very tight every day.
Per Bob's request, public services will not be held.
Our hearts are broken, but our love and respect for him will never waver.
