Nancy Bingham Mandlove, 84, of Spartanburg, SC passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025. She was born in Cincinnati, OH on January 23, 1941, a daughter of the late Josephine Gaible Mandlove and William Walter Mandlove, Sr.
A brilliant and accomplished woman, Nancy’s passion was teaching. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Hanover College in Indiana, master’s degree from Emory University in Georgia, and her doctorate degree in Language from the University of New Mexico. Nancy took pride in educating her students in languages and Women’s Studies and traveled with them to remote parts of the globe for immersive experiences. She was a professor for many colleges around the country, most recently Wofford College, where she taught for over 20 years.
Nancy also loved to travel. She was a true world traveler, visiting India, Europe, Central and South America. In the summer of 2024, she completed her goal of traveling to all 50 states.
She is survived by her brother, William “Bill” Mandlove (Pat) of Cincinnati, OH; sister, Christina Angell-Sallis (Bruce) of Houston, TX; nephews, Andrew Prather (Amy) of Austin, TX, Joel Mandlove of Cincinnati, OH, and Ryan Mandlove (Amanda) of Inman, SC. She also leaves behind her great-neices, Addison and Ashlyn Prather of Austin, TX; and great-nephews, Elijah and Ian Mandlove of Inman, SC. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by a nephew, Scott Mandlove.
Memorial services for Nancy will be 2:00 PM on June 28, 2025 at Unitarian Universalist Church of Spartanburg, conducted by Rev. Scott Neely.
