Betty Waits Gardner

Betty W. Gardner Spartanburg- Betty Waits Gardner, 87, widow of Julian E. Gardner, died Thursday, April 29, 2015. Betty was born in Greenwood; a daughter of the late Walter and Gussie Hipp Waits. She was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church where she loved the Willie Crain Sunday School Class and was very faithful in her daily devotions and Bible reading. Betty was a volunteer at the Doctor’s Memorial Hospital for a time, but her number one priority was being a wife and mother to her children. Betty is survived by two sons, Wayne Gardner and his fiancée Rebecca Barnes, of Mobile, AL, Glenn Gardner (Cindy) of Newberry; her daughter, Karen Bagwell (David) of Spartanburg. Also surviving her are three grandchildren, Brian Gardner of Mobile, AL; Chad Hodge of Townville; and Michelle Hodge Rhodes of Seneca. Betty will be missed by her three great-grandchildren, Jackson and Clarke Gardner, both of Mobile, AL, and Hannah Rhodes of Seneca. The family will receive friends at the Fairforest Baptist Church on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 10:00 AM. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 AM, officiated by Reverend Brian Rhodes and Reverend Brent Dowis. Burial will be in the Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery. The family is at their respective homes.
